When I was learning about story writing in school I loved it. I even wrote some short stories and typed it out using a typewriter. But I never really thought of it as a career until recently. Following some amazing muslim authors on Instagram showed me that it was possible. I was inspired and decided to take a leap of faith.
It took about a month. After having the idea in my head for a few months. I woke up one morning with an idea that felt right and wrote it down. Revised it a few weeks later then reached out to a publisher.
I write whenever I can get a few minutes.
When I'm writing I can't stop until I've emptied all my thoughts.
Everywhere. It use to be from during my time as a Madrasah teacher for the younger kids. When I couldn't find fun resources for the topics I was teaching. From my children and their antics. From books I've read. The Quran. There are so many stories unexplored for the muslim child.
Read, bing watch Netflix, ride my bike, go for walks, bird watching. I love being in the outdoors with my family.
They think it is awesome and are very proud.
That publishing was not as straightforward as I thought.
Read and write as much as possible. Reading gives you the words to express yourself in your writing. Make dua constantly.
One that is enjoyed by both parent and child. As a parent I get excited to reread stories I enjoy that my child requests. And I (sometimes) hide the ones that are not that great.
I wanted to be many things- a Doctor, Lawyer, Singer (wasnt very good at this one) but mostly an Archeologist. I had read a book on ancient Egypt and became obsessed.
I don't have one. I've read many great books and find it very hard to choose just one.
